DBT - Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a program of psychotherapy. This type of therapy is skill based and works on emotional regulation and acceptance. DBT was designed for those who may struggle with Borderline Personality Disorder and Depression.
EMDR - A form of psychotherapy involving side-to-side eye movements while thinking of the memory. Your therapist or doctor may also use techniques like rhythmic buzzers on both of your hands or play audio directed towards both ears. EMDR is a type of therapeutic treatment that is supposed to help take the traumatic memories you encountered and store them in the correct place in your mind.
Love bombing - When someone tries to buy or give you gifts in exchange for what they've done wrong. A tactic used to manipulate or influence you to do what they want or say.
Dissociation - The disconnection of feeling between someone's sensory experience, thoughts, sense of self, or personal history. Dissociation can feel like you’re having a numb out of body experience. A detachment from reality known for coping with trauma or extreme stress.
Panic attacks - A sudden episode of intense or disabling fear. Panic attacks can include crying, hyperventilating, feeling like you're losing control, or even feeling like you're dying.
DBT skill T.I.P.P. - Temperature (change your body temperature, hold an ice cube splash, splash your face with cold water) Intense exercise (Do the exercise that matches your emotions), Paced breathing, Paired relaxed muscle relaxation.
DBT skill self soothe - Find what soothes you. What keeps you calm? Whether its hanging with friends, deep breathing/meditation, watching your favorite movie in comfy clothes, or anything that makes you happy.
